Green Dragons/Riders

Green dragons are the smallest of the species. They are infertile females, although rumors persist that greens not fed firestone would be fertile. They rise in mating flights several times a turn, mostly being caught by blue or brown dragons. They tend to prefer females over males but will impress to either. They are the most numerous of the dragon colors. Green dragons are good search dragons. They will usually find one or two candidates for each clutch. They are the most agile of the dragon colors along with the blues and for this are highly prized as part of the mop up crews during thread fall for missed clumps and tangles.

IC Positions: Assistant Weyrlingmaster, Wingrider

Size Distribution: Greens are the most visibly growing size range, the distribution is skewed toward the middle and higher end of the size span while very few of the smallest of the color are being laid. Codewise any given green egg has the following percent chance for size:

Blue Dragons/Riders

Blue dragons are the smallest of the males of the species. They most commonly mate only with green dragons. Their riders tend to have or seek little responsibility beyond their standard wing duties, although a rare few will become wingseconds, or even a wingleader. Those that do tend to be looked on more strictly by the current Weyr leadership which favors bronzerider wingleaders. They are the second most common dragon color and are excellent Search dragons. They will usually bring in most of the candidates for a clutch. They are the second most agile of the dragon colors along with greens and for this they are highly prized as part of the mop up crews during threadfall for missed clumps and tangles. They will impress to a male, or rarely to a female.

Brown Dragons/Riders

Brown dragons are the middle sized males of the species. They are a strong enough dragon to last an entire threadfall and the make up the bulk of the wingseconds for a weyr. A few will also become wingleaders, and have to work doubly hard to earn the respect of the current Weyr leadership. They most commonly mate with green dragons, but on occasion will manage to catch junior gold dragons. They impress only to a male human shortly after hatching. Brown dragons have only an average Search ability. They will usually find one candidate every other clutch or so.

Gold Dragons/Riders

Gold dragons are the largest of the species, and the purportedly only fertile female. As the Pass nears the gold dragons are rising to mate about once a turn. They lay a clutch of eggs in number between ten and forty. They are the dominant dragon which all other colors must obey. They impress only to a female human just after they hatch. They do not breathe fire as their primary purpose is the reproduction of the species, but their riders will carry flamethrowers, charring thread at the lowest levels that the wings miss. They form a wing of gold dragons and those dragons/riders too injured to fly with the normal fighting wings, usually at the lowest level to get clumps missed or to help ground crews.

The OOC of Riding Gold

As gold dragons are the most limited in number ICly, there is a level of participation and effort required from them OOCly. Primarily this includes being active in roleplay, participating in various plots, and running clutches.

1. You are expected to be active and RP regularly (at minimum once a week), including regularly taking and posting logs to the wiki site.

2. You are expected to run a clutch about once a RL year, but not more than twice a RL year after your dragon reaches the age of two. This includes holding an on camera flight, clutching and hatching, as well as building the various eggs and PC dragons. You may recruit other players to help in dragon building. When you are ready to run a clutch, please contact the Wizards. Please note that the clutching system is completely random. You will have NO control over the number of eggs, the distribution of colors, dragon sizes, or who impresses which dragon/color.

Those not meeting these requirements will be ICly transferred from the Weyr to another NPC one, unless the player wishes an on camera end, and will be OOCly deleted from the game. If the player becomes active again, they may stand for future gold eggs. But the previous gold, is gone.

Only ONE goldrider at a time is allowed per RL Household on the game.
